Another adored love track of his is Your Song. It is now a staple of the romantic genre. The tune has become such an iconic piece that it has been parodied and referenced throughout popular culture. Elton John even sang a special version of it for the comedy series the Simpsons.

Rocket Man is one of his greatest hits. He continues to sing it during his live shows. It is written from the point of view of an astronaut who misses Earth. It was later covered by William Shatner.

Of all his singles, Candle in the Wind remains his most emotionally resonating. It was originally written as a tribute to the singer Marilyn Monroe. After the death of Princess Diana, he changed the lyrics to reflect her life. He would go on to sing this version at her funeral.

His song Don’t Let the Song Go Down On Me would later become a hit for another pop singer, George Michael. This track was also featured in the horror comedy the Lost Boys where Roger Daltrey provided the vocals.
